Windlab’s Whyalla West Wind Farm is a large-scale wind energy project that represents a significant opportunity to deliver low-cost renewable generation into the Australian energy mix.

The project will help meet growing energy demand from the early 2030’s onwards, harnessing new opportunities for decarbonisation while supporting expanding industry.

Designed to integrate with existing land uses, including agriculture, Whyalla West aims to deliver long-term benefits to local communities and the regional economy.

Whyalla West is located on the traditional lands of the Barngarla people, in the Upper Spencer Gulf region. The project is located on pastoral land and will coexist with host-landholders’ agricultural operations.

Project infrastructure will be designed to minimise disruption and Windlab will work with landholders and the community to develop a responsible project which is guided by local input, environmental considerations and regulatory requirements.

Our host communities are long-term stakeholders. We work in partnership with communities to build strong, long-term relationships and deliver equitable benefits that make an enduring, positive legacy for local people.

Windlab has begun early engagement and collaboration with key regional stakeholders to build an understanding of local priorities. As the project progresses our focus is on supporting the community to participate in a development process which is informed by local insight and shared aspirations.
